Workshop Session Descriptions

Saturday, February 20, 2010

Session - 1 - 9:00am to 12 noon

Lily’s Tips, Tricks, and Hints

Achieve better results while making your machine or hand knitting and crochet items while making your creative life easier.  Lily will show you how to add new yarn or a new color and how to weave in those little ends that are too short to put through a darning needle.  See ways to attaching buttons as you work and how to join pieces as you work. Create invisible circular bind offs in circular knitting where the beginning and end are imperceptible. Learn simple solutions to all of your knitting and crocheting pet peeves.

Luncheon and Fashion Show  12 noon - 2:00pm

Session - 2 - 2:00pm to 5:00pm

Knit and Crochet with Beads

Knitters and crocheters of all skill levels will find inspiring projects and a feast of possibilities for one-of-a-kind garments and accessories. Whether added on spontaneously as we work, added on after the fact, or planned and mapped out ahead of time, the results will always garner attention and admiration. Learn the many ways of applying different types of beads whether hand or machine knit or crochet. Find out which method is best in which situation. See the effects on different kinds of materials.

Sunday, February 21, 2010

Session - 3 - 9:00am to 12 noon &  2:00pm to 5:00pm

Luncheon and Fashion Show  12 noon - 2pm

Fitting Tips for more Customized Garments

Sometimes following a standard pattern’s measurements seldom leads to a custom fit.  Learn how to adjust pattern measurements for your own personalized fit.   See what areas to alter by draping for a fine-tuning your pattern.  Master the alterations for sleeves, garment lengths, bust darts, and garment ease.  Please note that this is not a “change the pattern to be another size” class.  This is an “alter the pattern to personalize my fit class."
